Last night's game
Wow, what a freaky game.  I wrote up an individual story about it to make sure it did not become buried news.  Link here.

I don't want to get into my impressions of Oklahoma players because last night's game was just so abnormal.  The only play I think I can comment on with confidence is the error by Sperring in the 4th inning.  Just a poor throw in the dirt on the second base side of first.

For what it is worth, KU radio announcer Brian Hanni was questioning Oklahoma's pitching decisions last night as well. At one point in the bottom of the seventh Chase Anderson was visited on the mound by one of the Oklahoma coaches. Hanni thought he was about to be pulled and said something like, "and frankly they have stuck with this young man too long already." Anderson was left in the game and gave up another run.

Game 2: Kansas 13 - Oklahoma 10
Another shoot-out, but this one was played in picture perfect weather.  A really nice crowd showed up at Hoglund yesterday.

I have a write up of the game at Rock Chalk Talk now, but it is mostly focused on KU players.  Regarding the Sooners:

J.T. Wise hit a homerun to left center field ysterday in the top of the fifth.  It was a monster shot.  The ball hit a tree that stands about 15 feet behind the outfield wall.  Judging by the fact that the ball was still about 25 feet above the ground when it hit the tree I'd estimate that ball was going to travel at least 420 feet.

The OU defense was not sharp yesterday.  KU scored a baserunner (and not a particularly fast one) from second on an infield single.  Also Spencer Selby allowed Jimmy Waters to stretch a single into a double by not hustling to a blop single that fell in front of him.  Earlier in the game Selby lost a homerun ball at the fence hit by Erik Morrison.  The ball actually hit his glove as he jumped for it but he couldn't make the catch.

According to KU radio host Brian Hanni Coach Galloway kept the team behind closed doors for a 45 minute "meeting" prior to the game.  The substance of the meeting apparently was that he was upset with the team's play lately.

C.J. Blue, very soft tossing pitcher.  Good location.  He calmed the KU bats down for a while.
